LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this?
for me, what I used to believe was myself is actually an object(s) that can be seen. then I saw that it's actually thought, flavored by sensation in the head, throat, and chest usually. in addition identification makes these things seem more close or real.
What are you looking for at LU?
Where I'm at, the intellectual understanding is there (though it continues filling out from different angles), and the experience of feeling "caught" can still happen in a strong way. There are specifics I'm not clear on, especially around what that experience of identification really is mechanistically. That's confusing to me when I'm caught. Even in this moment the feeling of a self-center is active, thought I'm able to intellectually recognize it just fine and easily.
i'm dedicated to furthering this process and the unfolding that results from this. i'd like to deepen and stabilize and enhance the clarity of non-identification and the processes that happen as a result, like feeling the body more moment-to-moment and dissolving beliefs etc etc. which is already happening.
What do you expect from a guided conversation?
I expect to have back-and-forth that assists me in the disidentification (there are times of identification and I want those times to be fewer and fewer). I have read some guide interactions guiding people to fetter 1 but I have already been thru that gate and now looking to be more foundationally living there and live more in the body/less thought identifying.
What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry?
have had an awakening experience from psychedelics 10 years ago, then a spontaneous intermittent non-doership experience that lasted 5 days in 2020 while in India upon being at a mooji Satsang one day. my mind started opening in 2021 and I began intense contemplation and investigation of my assumptions leading to a true kensho. got scared and backed off for a while and the past year have been getting back into Truth. recognized I had opened doors with my contemplation that are not closeable and am more equipped psychologically to fully face and deepen into Truth.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self? 11
Have seen no-self, want to continue deepening
Re: Have seen no-self, want to continue deepening
Hi! I’m May. Are you still around?
What name do you like to go by?
I noticed quite a bit of striving in what you shared, a desire to deepen, stabilize, and enhance clarity... Let’s set that aside for now and look directly at what’s here.
You mentioned “identification.” What does that word point to for you?
In your direct experience right now, is there actually a “someone” who identifies, or is it just thoughts and sensations appearing, with no central “you” doing the identifying?
Look closely: Who is identifying with whom? Or is identification just another thought, flavored by sensations, appearing in... lets call it “awareness”?
