I had done the fear tube earlier. But the fear that showed up was not relevant to this work. Still awesome video in welcoming fear.

You are not suggesting that there is nothing in front of me, right? I see something with a certain shape, color, form and smell.

Right. Only that the label, "banana, ' and the idea that is separate from whatever is around it IA a made- up story.

Hang on.

Here is a pencil in front of me. I totally get that I don't see the labels in reality. and words and labels are made up.

But this "pencil" is not glued to the table. I can pick it up. I can sharpen it. I can even break it and yet the curtains and the table and everything around it is still intact.

I don't follow why you say 'separate' is made up.

Here is the pointer I give for that, but you could use the pencil. It doesn't matter. There's no separation.



This is the only pointer Ilona gave me when I was guided here. i practiced this for about 3 months. I call it:

It is simple direct & nonverbal. Just LOOK.

There is only sensation. No clear division.

But different when I look at the pencil on the table. I take it off the table. I can see it is separate.

Or if I look at the my elbows on the table. Sensationwise, I can not feel where my elbow ends and the table begins. but I can see my elbow contours clearly and I can see when my elbows pick up from the table. Separate.

You have forgotten the air in between. My youngest brother came to my mother once when he was about 7 or so and he said, "Mommy, I'm touching China." She asked how that was and he said, "I'm touching the air and the air is touching the land and the land is touching the ocean and the ocean is touching China!"

There is no separation anywhere.

It is only a story our mind tells. A client recently said that to think we are separate is as strange as "a cup of air."

Yes, it is a little more challenging because the air appears clear to us, but it is part of the whole and part of SEEING no separation.

Stay with butt on chair. We use that for a reason. It keeps the storytelling lying eyes out of it.

Trying to see the air as part of the connection when you lift a pen or an arm would be a strain. You must be relaxed.

This is not something you practice once and forget about it. Remember, I practiced this, and only this, for 3 months and then one day, I was in my car at a stoplight and suddenly I could see no separation. Everything was just about glowing and beautiful. Your experience will be different, but that was mine. SEEING is most likely to creep up on you unexpectedly. It may be gradual or it may be a huge shift all at once.

Keep LOOKING and post here as close to daily as you can.

Do words deceive me?

I look at this curtain in front of me.....It is actually cloth just hung in front of a window....

I look at the desk in front of me.....It is really just wood in a certain shape....maybe even just trees

And then the books.....paper is again just wood ...so again really trees and plants

And things are just way more complex when I look at them than just words.

Yes all words are made up stories. You could even call them "lies."

Post several of your own observations in a list *exactly* like the one above, please.
Reading a poetry book:
- Touching the page, simply = Sensation
- Seeing the words, simply = Seeing
- Reading the poems, simply = Thoughts arising

Cloth, wood, trees, plants - all of these are made up. So are Seeing, Hearing, Feeling/Sensation, Tasting, Touching and Thought Arising, but we have to use something. We make it as simple and Direct as possible.

Please stick to these.

Why? Because everything else is just a Thought Arising. We want to ignore those in our practice. Let them go by.

Why? Because "self" is nothing more than a Thought Arising.

Try this:

Direct Experience

Sit quietly and relax, take your time just looking at what is in front of you for awhile.

Observe how the mind is dividing and labelling every thing into objects and is embellishing them with stories about what they are.

Give it some time

Then, stop watching the objects as labelled objects. Just look at the seeing itself. Observe the pure process of seeing. This is Direct Experience (DE).
