Morning Solstice,

I agree completely, it's possible the whole of a life is one experience.
And as you said each part of that whole is an experience.

So what's the difference between the biggest and smallest experience?

Hmmm I want to say time, but when I have been completely in the moment, experiences seem to be timeless (in that long times can pass quickly and vice versa). So I am not really sure, is time just the distance between experience being interrupted by thought?

Morning Solstice,

is time just the distance between experience being interrupted by thought?

Could be, but is there any distance between anything?

Before you get deeply into thinking about an answer to that question, let me tell you something about my I -
It loves to philosophise and intellectualise, and get lost in the grand illusion of falsely brilliant ego.
So I'd like you to read something from another guide that gets me back on point -

Watch experiencing during everyday activities. What is it that drives the car? What puts food in the mouth? What is it that reads these words, types replies? Is there a 'something' doing these...or do they simply happen, all on their own? Look deeply into this many times a day, without expectations....

Nothing at all to lose, except the false idea that you exist.

Just another illusion

Let me know what happens.
A lot of the time action stops, when I look for the doer

Evening Solstice,

Do you mean literally stops?
Like if eating dinner is happening and you look for the doer, then eating stops happening.
I'm assuming a doer is not being found.

Yes exactly
I'm assuming a doer is not being found.
correct, although the thoughts try to say the stopping indicates they are the doer lol

Yes, thoughts can be like that.

What about the times the action doesn't stop, how do the thoughts try get around that?

They are either conveniently quiet, trying to influence the action in some way (guessing at the future, ie guessing the next sentence as this is typed), describing what is happening from a first person perspective, or just trying to get attention with something unrelated

Is there any distance between thoughts (all of the above) and what's actually going on?

A bit confused by what you mean by distance.
Do you mean like a gap in time between the doing and the thoughts about the doing?

Or do you mean a physical feeling of distance?

If the first it depends on the thoughts, sometimes they precede the doing (guessing correctly what will happen/or maybe even influencing in some way?) other times they describe what has happened from a 1st person perspective so lag behind the doing, and other times they are completely unrelated to the current doing (usually worrying about happenings further in the past or future).

If the second I am not really sure, it sort of feel like the happening is out there and the thoughts are in here (which I guess is still the body/ mainly the head behind the eyes)
However when examining this out there and in here seems to just be more thought, another delusion/illusion.

If something else entirely please let me know and I will get back to you :)

Morning Solstice,

This is one of those points where language becomes difficult.

By using the word distance, I was trying to indicate how thoughts and everything else (DE, physical actions, etc) are separated or unrelated. There's a metaphorical gap.

It's easier to see when the thoughts isn't related to the action - like when you're typing a response to this message and a thought appears about a day in school from years ago.

so you are saying all thoughts even those that are referential to direct experience are unrelated to the direct experience they are referencing? I feel a bit slow lol
I am not sure I understand

Morning Solstice,

There's no doer, this includes doing thinking.
As we have seen there's no control over thoughts.

You had no say in being born or which school you first went to. When did you make your first decision?
