Is it clear that there is no separate self, regardless, ever, and never will be?

There is some conflict here it is as if at times it is perfectly clear that there is no seperate self but then there could be something that draws me into identification and it is like the vail is pulled back down for a while. Usually when this happens the suffering is immense and it will be let go of . But there are still Velcro like tendancies that pull the attention back into this body/mind. I guess the question is, can it be seen at all times that there is no separate self? And I'd have to say it is undeniably the case, does the intellect here reflect that at all times then no, as there are still vassana's that play out, that lock the focus back into the apparent individual in a world of apparent individuals. I hope I explained it clearly.
