Of course there is no "thing" that can be located, partly because located refers to a phenomenon in space. There's no thing in or out of the body that does the knowing.

The knowing happens along with that which is known. And the sense of there being a knower - an "I" - can happen along with the knowing, though not always.

Say "I" loudly multiple times, or just as a thought. Until it is right there. When it is right there, observe it like a hawk and question:

What is this "I"?
When observed directly and in isolation.
More than a letter, more than a word, more than a thought?

Does "I" know anything?

Can "I" do anything?

Can "I" ever become anything else than "I"?

Can "I" think?
Can "I" think other thoughts?

Right now, repeating it, "I" is a letter, a so-called "vowel".

Repeating "I am" doesn't seem to have grip either. Just words, sounds.

4) What was the last bit that pushed you over, made you look?

5) Describe decision, intention, free will, choice and control. What makes things happen? How does it work? What are you responsible for? Give examples from experience.
