Question1: Who harnesses the thoughts?

Exercise: Describe what happens when there is control.
Hi Q, firstly my apologies for the delay in responding. Thank you for your patience, and for the precision and care in your guidance.

I have reflected on this question and am finding answers elusive, and I think perhaps my previous answer was not correct. There is no-one who harnesses the thoughts as such. They just happen, but control I think comes from the opposite of 'harnessing' them. Control comes from letting them be, seeing them for what they are - just thoughts, stories, labels - and not allowing them to be anything more than what they are. This is what happens when there is 'control' - it's about not seeking control and not trying to control.

Ok.

Question: Do you have any doubts seeing the illusion of self has happened? Talk about that.

I feel a sense of calm and comfort. When I check for doubts, nothing arises. There is still labelling going on, and thoughts that relate to the self, I suppose, but they seem much less strong than before and dissipate when attention is put to them.

OK.

Question: How is attention put to thoughts to dissipate them? Who is in charge of that?

Thanks

It's through the removal of self, its absence lets the thoughts dissipate. No-one is in charge of that - it's the relinquishing of the self.

Ok, walk through these six questions. Some have come up before and it is ok to repeat the answers here.

Question 1: Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there
ever?

Question 2: Explain in detail what the illusion of separate self is, when it starts and how it works from
your own experience. Describe it fully as you see it now.

Question 3: How does it feel to see this? What is the difference from before you started this dialogue?
Please report from the past few days.

Question 4: What was the last bit that pushed you over, made you look?

Question 5: Describe decision, intention, free will, choice and control. What makes things happen? How
does it work? What are you responsible for? Give examples from experience.

Question 6: Anything to add?

Hi Q, so sorry for the silence. The last set of questions gave me pause for reflection and then I didn't quite find the time to stop and respond - my apologies. Many thanks for the following up, I am keen to continue.
Question 1: Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there
ever?
No, although it has certainly felt that way in the past! No there never was, although the illusion was deep and compelling.
Question 2: Explain in detail what the illusion of separate self is, when it starts and how it works from
your own experience. Describe it fully as you see it now.
It starts at the point of 'conscious thinking'. It is the internal narrator, the voice seemingly inside one's head. It gives the illusion of separateness, of agency, of control.
Question 3: How does it feel to see this? What is the difference from before you started this dialogue?
Please report from the past few days.
The overriding feeling is one of calmness. I felt a distinct quietening, that seems to be seeping ever deeper. This feeling of calm, quiet, centredness is different from before I started this dialogue.
Question 4: What was the last bit that pushed you over, made you look?
I think the point which pushed me over was when I was asked to point to 'me', following the process of describing my reality in the moment, and then separating what was real from that with was imagination, labelling and so on.
Question 5: Describe decision, intention, free will, choice and control. What makes things happen? How
does it work? What are you responsible for? Give examples from experience.
Decision is the point of action. Intention is the feeling that leads to decision and action. Free will is the illusion of complete control over thoughts and actions. Choice is having more than one option to take on your journey. Control is allowing things to be. I am responsible in so far as allowing things to be, to practice kindness, to retain insight and to not allow illusionary thoughts to seize control.
Question 6: Anything to add?
At this stage, I am not sure I have anything to add, although I am keen to continue with the process as you see appropriate.

The Guides enjoyed reading the string. One thing for additional clarity. You said:
Intention is the feeling that leads to decision and action.
Exercise: Explain the feeling in Direct Experience and the sequence of what that is and how it leads to decision/action.

Thanks!

I'm glad they enjoyed it! Thanks as ever for your time and diligence through this process. On the last q regarding intention:
Exercise: Explain the feeling in Direct Experience and the sequence of what that is and how it leads to decision/action.
I previously wrote that "Intention is the feeling that leads to decision and action", but when I examine further this assessment also dissipates. 'Intention' as previously described is an illusion, another labelling of feeling, which doesn't actually exist.
