Re: Ok, I'm ready for a guide

It's nearly impossible to not refer to "yourself" in all cases... Might there be a situation that could arise in which the "self" could pop up & try to make an argument for itself, sure, but it's an illusion... Is there something that needs to be done to find out??

Re: Ok, I'm ready for a guide

Oops, phone posted prematurely...

I asked of myself who makes the decisions and nothing is there... It feels like decisions come from a "me" that is running the show but like thoughts there is no originator, no doer making things happen. There's a disconnection from
control that is just aware of ...

Re: Ok, I'm ready for a guide

lol, wow, that's confusing... What I was trying to describe was that thoughts happen and you can make choices but the originator of the thoughts can't be found. When I trace back the origin, there's nothing there.

Re: Ok, I'm ready for a guide

Sure : )

I can decide to get a drink, I can even decide what I want to drink but even in all the actions taken up to the point of getting a drink, it all originates from thought and there's no originator of thought. No doer, no seer, no thinker. There's no separate self that makes any of that ...

Re: Ok, I'm ready for a guide

No problem : )

1) Nope, never has been, when one looks for it, it isn't there.

2) It's just an idea that has been inferred since birth and became a part of conditioning... It becomes intertwined as a part of everyday life. When caught up in the illusion you take ownership of everything, my this ...

Re: Ok, I'm ready for a guide

Lol, it was a little rocky there for a minute. The ego put up a good fight but "I" pressed on... It got to the point that "I" was literally laughing because no matter how hard "I" looked there was nothing there... Eventually it became clear that it really is that simple, there's no self there ...

Re: Ok, I'm ready for a guide

how do you know that "they/others" are also "experiences happening"?

Experience just happens... "We" are all the exemplification of experience, "we" are the present...

can you experience that "others" are also experiencing? Are there any "others" experiencing?

"I" can't experience that ...

Re: Ok, I'm ready for a guide

If the essence being where thoughts are experienced, then yes, that would be considered a center...

Of course there are no folds, that's just an idea made up by the mind when it's confused, lol

Re: Ok, I'm ready for a guide

They are experiences happening just like I am experiences happening, there is no doer, seer or hearer behind it...

Lol, I don't know that I can wrap my head around that one... I wish I'd never brought up about other ppl, lol... It seems too complex to think about the essence of other people... Like ...

Re: Ok, I'm ready for a guide

Letting go of the steering wheel means putting your life in God's hands, to allow the unfolding of life... Not to say that God has some unwavering plan, but that if you give up your control, control doesn't just disappear, it is turned over and you can have trust in the direction in which your life ...

Re: Ok, I'm ready for a guide

I guess I am confused because I've struggled with the idea of God much of my life... Trying to figure out if there is one & what that would mean... I thought I had things figured out to a workable degree and when u say there is no steering wheel my mind thinks "does this mean there is no God" and I ...
