Dear Carrie

A really big thank you for your generosity and clarity. You have been so affirming and positive which has really helped me in this process. It has been wonderful to share this with you and I will miss our conversations!

I too wish you all the best and again, huge thanks for what I ...

Re: Please can I have a guide?

Hi Carrie

I wouldn't expect anyone to know the Kanizsa Illusion but know it is very 'googleable,' at least if I had spelt it correctly!

Thank you again

xx

Re: Please can I have a guide?

Hi Carrie

Yes of course - in fact I was quite aware of many yesterday and forgot to be specific.

I caught a late train home last night which involves one change - I can do this early in the journey or later on. As I was sitting on the train there were thoughts relating to these two options, one ...

Re: Please can I have a guide?

Dear Carrie

Right, it's been a very long day but let's see how and if I can consolidate this when feeling tired rather than just lively and alert :) It may be more realistic.

1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever?

NO!!! How ...

Re: Please can I have a guide?

Hi Carrie

Thanks for your questions.....

Is there an 'I' that doubts and questions? Is there an I that checks in DE? is 'I' more absent in DE than in thoughts??

There isn't an I that doubts and questions - I know this from DE. Sometimes it may feel like there is, this is the illusion. There is ...

Re: Please can I have a guide?

So, can you say, that yes, it is clear that I is imagined, that there is no separation and separate self is an illusion? If no, what is it that still needs to be looked at?

I can see that this is very clear and very simple... but worryingly so :)!! I have a gazillion doubts but I am treating ...

Re: Please can I have a guide?

Hi Carrie

Thanks so much for your lovely quote - it really struck me and I needed it. This process has felt strange today because I have wanted to engage with it and feel inspired but I have a temporary aversion to reading anything about it!! (This is unusual for me) I just feel 'full up' and want ...

Re: Please can I have a guide?

I see that thoughts/the mind etc. makes it feels to us as if there is a doer or controller - that our intentions are directly linked to our actions; so there has to be a controller. But it is not like this; one thing happens then another thing happens; whether it is thought, intention or action- one ...

Re: Please can I have a guide?

Most of the time it feels like there is a doer because I have an intention before I do something. But this was plainly the opposite today. I was doing a mountain bike event which was very tough and at one point I was at the bottom of a very steep climb and people were walking up ahead. My head said ...

Re: Please can I have a guide?

Who or what is thinking?

Thoughts just pop into my awareness. Some hang around for too long and then my mind has great fun with them turning them into humour, darkness, worries, infinite permutations; equally some thoughts just come into awareness and then just leave. I am not thinking the ...

Re: Please can I have a guide?

LOOK..... is there a gap between experience, experiencer and experiencing? Is there something to which experiences are happening?

Thanks again Carrie for being so encouraging. I have had a battle going on in my head; starting with lots of reasons and explanations for the absence of a separate ...

Re: Please can I have a guide?

I feel a bit stuck now thinking about 'I'. I may be trying too hard but the same thoughts and experiences (as mentioned yesterday) keep occurring which makes me feel like I am going around in circles. I feel like I am trying to see what I feel when I contemplate what 'I' is etc. but 'I' just feels ...

Re: Please can I have a guide?

It only felt linked for a few seconds. It doesn't feel linked to the body now; it doesn't feel linked to anything.

I can't feel 'I' in my body anywhere; nothing is resonating.

There would be no loss of 'I' - 'I' doesn't feel any different.

I cannot find this line - the sound of the ...

Re: Please can I have a guide?

Hi Carrie

Thank you for your helpful response. So here goes....

I have been thinking about ‘I’ on and off today; in brief moments and also with some more focused attention. My first initial feeling this morning when I said the word ‘I’ to myself was that I was suddenly aware of the outer boundary ...
