Re: Do you want a guide?

Hi Lorenzo!

I'm sorry for the long delay.
The fact is that I the last weeks has felt quite uninspired to write here. I really don't want to sound ungrateful as I really appreciate the work and time you and all the other guides put down here. But I am thinking that it might be a good time for me to ...

Re: Do you want a guide?

Is there a self in any form?
Has there ever been a self in any form?
You know, I find it difficult to answer these questions. The only answer I get now is: I don’t think so. Or, I haven’t found this self yet. Feels like unsatisfactory answers…

Re: Do you want a guide?

It is simple you have just to look in experience and see if you can find a self in any form, it is as simple as that.
To be honest it doesn’t always feel that easy. I’ve looked and looked and never found a self. I can’t really say this has changed anything.

Now in this moment where is the self ...

Re: Do you want a guide?

Hi! Sorry for the late reply but it’s been long days with both a lot of work and other stuff.

There is no reason to move war against thoughts...they are good as they are, just passing phenomena.
Yes, I understand that. I just need to remind myself of how much power that is often given to thoughts ...

Re: Do you want a guide?

What is saying that things should be different?
Well, it’s thoughts. I can’t know that things should be different.

Does a change in experience of any sort imply the existence of a self?
No, but I would say it could imply the belief in the existence of a self.

Does having a "filtered" or a ...

Re: Do you want a guide?

It’s an interesting question as it becomes very obvious when contemplating it that nothing can be any different in direct experience. What is, is and what happens, happens. So in a way it’s silly to have expectations on thing becoming different.

But reality, what happens, is always filtered ...

Re: Do you want a guide?

Good question. Maybe I’m expecting a release of a kind. I think I expect to be able to witness things more easily without being draw into every external thing that happen. That the feeling of spaciousness is more present in everyday life and not only when meditating.

Re: Do you want a guide?

How is it different?
It feels more spacious. That’s probably the best way I can describe it.

How does seeing all this feel?
To be honest everything is pretty much the same as always. It’s only when meditating/contemplating this that it feels more present. Mostly I’m lost in the world of ...

Re: Do you want a guide?

Hi, back again!

Can this awareness be separated from what appears?
No, nothing can happen outside of awareness as it then wouldn’t be registered.

Is there something looking at something else?
Good question. As the attention moves around it often feels like it. But when examining what’s ...

Re: Do you want a guide?

What is saying that there is a me?
Thoughts. Habits…

What is doing all this process?
I’ve looked and looked and not found a what or who, that does all this.

How does this seeing part work in direct experience?
I would say that there is always an awareness present. You can not, not be present ...

Re: Do you want a guide?

Hi!

Sorry for the late reply, but wanted to spend some time with this before replying. And just so you know - I'll be going away for a few days on thursday. From thursday on I probably won't be able to reply until next sunday or monday.

Ok, so I’ve spent some time meditating today. Doing that it’s ...

Re: Do you want a guide?

Do you mean attention?
Yes, I mean attention :)

For the sake of using the same terms there is attention that is something related to the mind and it changes focus, while awareness is the space in which everything (comprised attention) appears.
Can you relate with that in your experience?
Yes ...

Re: Do you want a guide?

How thoughts become stronger and stronger?
Ok, it’s true that a thought is always a thought and in a way there isn’t any difference between thoughts. But awareness “focus in and/or out” at the stream of thoughts appearing. This seems to make all the difference.

Can thoughts do something ...

Re: Do you want a guide?

See in direct experience what happens/arises (I mean in terms of sensations, thoughts, ...) when what you call "taking a thoughts seriously" happens.
Just write down what you notice.
It’s pretty much what I wrote before. The most common theme is that awareness/attention is narrowed down and a sort ...
