Re: guiding by location

Jim,

You're welcome. I want to leave you a simple observation.

Tomas, has trained for his Olympic marathon race for over 8 years. He's spent countless days and nights in training regiments that tuned and toned his body like a machine. His pre-Olympic races were a stepping stone to evaluate his ...

Re: guiding by location

Jim,

A few questions from the other guides.

How would you explain this to an interested other (someone seeking for example), rather than family?

What do you notice now? Is anything different from before this guiding started?

Was there ever a me? How about self, is there anything that is ...

Re: guiding by location

Jim,

Based on what you've said in your responses, I'm going to post the final questions. In addition to that I've given you a few Direct Experience questions as well. Take your time, and thoroughly answer the questions using Direct Experience.

You've done some great work over the past few weeks ...

Re: guiding by location

Jim,

That's fantastic. Keep looking throughout the day. See where the "I/me/my/self" crop up and label experience, and then claims ownership.

Also, the thought may come up saying "this may last or may not last", can you see that even if it's a thought that says that, you don't own or control your ...

Re: guiding by location

Jim,

I'll await your reply on the remaining aspects.

In the meanwhile consider this:

If you aren't your thoughts, and you can't control what thoughts will come or where they come from; is there a 'you' apart from thoughts?

Are these thoughts always tied to direct experience sensations and the ...

Re: guiding by location

Jim,

Great work on these exercises.

It's clear to you now that you don't control your thoughts. Can you tell me if you are your thoughts?

When you read THIS sentence. Who is it that's reading it? Are they just words being seen in direct experience filtered by thought?

Take a look at how the "I ...

Re: guiding by location

Hey Jim,

Let's drill down to thinking/thoughts. It seems like you're pretty stuck there.

Take a look at the following link and let me know what you find.

Re: guiding by location

Jim,

So you're seeing that thoughts come and go, and there is no control over them. Just floating across and disappearing.

What do they float across?

Can you now look at sensations.

What does experience mean? How is it experienced?

Re: guiding by location

Hey Jim,

Take your time, and recall while doing these exercises that it's all being looked at directly using Direct Experience only. Suspend all stories of the mind, all beliefs and assumptions.

The key is to check it against DE.

DE consists of:

Thoughts
Feelings
Sensory input (seeing, hearing ...

Re: guiding by location

Hi Jim,

Take a look at thoughts.

How do they come to be? And are they your thoughts? Can a thought be aware of a thought?

If yes are you in control of thoughts? Do you know the next thought, can you stop a thought? Can you decide NOT to think of an Apple right now?

If no, what is the direct ...

Re: guiding by location

Hello Jim,

I'm going to point more directly now to see where you're stuck.
When there are no thoughts do you still exist?
Is there a you/self in direct experience?
Look fiercely into this. Suspend all assumptions and expectations.

Ask the question(s), and LOOK.

_Love

Re: guiding by location

Jim,

Is there a watcher of thoughts + thoughts? look closely and see if there is someone/something that watches thoughts.

But I think there probably are thoughts that I am not aware of. Is that nutz?

Not Nutz...! Notice how there is Awareness of 'thoughts'. Look and report what occurs when ...
