Re: Would like to be guided

Hi Ian

Here's the answers to the final questions.

1) There is no me, I or you. Has never been or will be.

2) I is a thought or part of a thought.

3) The illusion of a separate self is of something/someone who senses what is being sensed and who owns and has thoughts, owns and has a body. It is ...

Hi Ian

Simple isn't it? Yes.

Enjoy your day, off to bed.

Thank-you

Re: Would like to be guided

Hi Ian

Am pondering the questions you sent.

Something that comes up is the question of separation. In direct experience whilst sat here looking at this laptop typing, there is an awareness of physical sensations which gives a spatial awareness of where I am in relation to what I'm seeing. I'm ...

Re: Would like to be guided

Morning Ian

Occasional twinge of anxiety but nothing much. As you said previously lots of thoughts checking and rechecking if I've deluded myself, if this is it - because of the simplicity. What is interesting is that I guess most of the time no-one has thoughts of "I" in their heads anyhow ...

Re: Would like to be guided

Hi Ian

Thanks for that.

I like the term 'Gateless Gate" as it implies no gate, no this side or the other side and nothing to get through. Funny! Clever!

Felt like some expectations and assumptions have had to be ditched today. No dhyana, no special state and no huge ah ha! That obvious, huh!?! It ...

Re: Would like to be guided

Hi Ian

A few things experienced over the past 24 hours. One is that nothing has happened and everything is exactly the same. Around this a feeling of 'no one home' and observing life happening and wondering how that can be? Some fear and anxiety about disappearing into nothing. Kind of feeling very ...

Re: Would like to be guided

Hi Ian

Busy day so don't expect i can answer all this at the moment and want to spend some time.

Today I wonder if I've got this?

Is there a 'me' or 'you' or 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever? Will there ever be?
There are thoughts with 'me' etc.contained in ...

Re: Would like to be guided

Hi Ian

How will you know the search has ended? When there is nothing to search for.

What boxes do you need to tick to say the search has ended? It feels like there are no boxes to tick. Nothing to be done.

When would your "I" say the search has ended? "I" is a thought, an idea, a label. It ...

Re: Would like to be guided

Hi Ian

Going back to the previous questions. Direct experience.

What is aware of this ‘I’ Just awareness of the senses and thoughts to which is attached a name "I". Actually more subtle - sense of presence.

So, does the “I” exist? Is it a separate entity? Can't find any evidence for "I". And ...

Re: Would like to be guided

Hi Ian

A bit more long-winded today!

What is aware of this ‘I’. No-one, nothing, nada.

I am a little bit confused with this answer. Are you saying there is just awareness of this 'I' and you are calling it, "No-one, nothing, nada." OR is there another explanation you have.

It is like there ...

Re: Would like to be guided

Hello Ian

Crikey!! “I” am just about “I”ed out. I might have a drink before I answer this. I have driven others to drink before.

Whose thoughts are they? No ones.

What or who is this ‘I’ that you are talking about? It's a thought.

Where does it come from? From nowhere.

When did it start or ...

Re: Would like to be guided

Hi Ian

If you look at thoughts, do you find that you are the thinker of them? Are you able to stop all thoughts whenever you like? Are you able to decide what the next thought will be? Are you able to decide not to ever have any unhappy thoughts? Close your eyes, take a look, and tell me where ...

Re: Would like to be guided

The CEO was sacked some time ago but hasn't quite realised it. Incapable of running or controlling the business.

Where do thoughts come from? I don't know. They arise without me doing anything. Seem to be a response to the senses and emotions. A sight or smell for example will start a train of ...

Re: Would like to be guided

Hi Ian

It is not some altered state that ‘special’ people get to and the rest just have to hope they will get there in the end

That's very good to hear and combats the voice which says I am not ready for this or haven't practised enough.

Now let this sink in ….there is no ‘I’ to get anywhere ...

Re: Would like to be guided

Hi Ian

Not quite a rant but here goes!

Why do I want to do this?

At core I want to live happier, freer and more spontaneously. I want to feel more connected to life and less separate. This is what I get to lesser and greater degrees from having a meditation/Buddhist practice over the past years ...
