Re: Ready to see - where do I start?

So See Eye,

You mentioned a transition that takes place. What is the transition like for others? Is there a place on this site where I connect with others who are negotiating this terrain?

Re: Ready to see - where do I start?

In fact I was just watching the movie The Matrix and Neo says to Trinity (I'm paraphrasing): "I have all these memories of my life, and they are not real. What does that mean?" And Trinity responds, "That the matrix cannot tell you who you are."

Re: Ready to see - where do I start?

CI,

I forgot to answer the last of the questions. The realization was very gradual, over a period of years, a series of experiences and of looking into how things really work. One key experience for me was waking up one morning in the ashram and noticing that I was, upon waking up, "rebuilding ...

Re: Ready to see - where do I start?

See Eye,

Thanks for the love.

I can't say there is much story to the anger and irritation. It feels old and storyless. It mostly seems to arise as a temptation to see an "I" -- whose anger, whose irritation? But I look again and sure enough, it's nobody's. Just arising. There may be some ancient ...

Re: Ready to see - where do I start?

OK, ready. Questions first, then the other stuff.

No, there is no me anywhere, in any way, shape or form, and there never was. There is no self separate from everything else.

The illusion of separate self begins with "learning" as a baby/child. Things happen naturally with a baby, but it "learns ...

Re: Ready to see - where do I start?

A lot of emotions are arising, especially anger and irritation, and a lot of temptation to say they belong to an "I" -- also a lot of temptation to see a "you" (not you personally, CI, but a "you" generally, everywhere, in the same sense as "I", as a label for thoughts and experiences). The complex ...

Re: Ready to see - where do I start?

No. What "states" come and go will be enjoyed, experienced. But states are fleeting, by their nature, aren't they? Like thoughts, qualities, feelings, etc. There was no expectation before, other than uncovering truth. Uncovering is happening. It seems like expectation of a "state" of being, of ...

Re: Ready to see - where do I start?

I can't find it or see it. It's not here. What is the "I" and the "self"? A label for some thoughts and experiences.

Re: Ready to see - where do I start?

CI,

It is different. For example, it is now like seeing four characters instead of three, "Shelly" now being one of them. It is very different from before, when it seemed that "I" was seeing three other people in the house. And in fact it seems as if the "Shelly" character is more like memories of ...

Re: Ready to see - where do I start?

See Eye,

Still recalculating. There is a letting down, a dropping away of expectations that arise. There is a sense of "waiting" for something -- that too is a step away from the gate, re-inviting the "I" to play out something. It's just boredom, that's all, a feeling of boredom, which can arise ...

Re: Ready to see - where do I start?

See Eye,

Thanks for the response. What arose here upon reading it (over a period of a few hours) was a perturbation, an irritation; then some thoughts on how to respond; then a sitting with the ideas presented; then a realization: Nothing is knowable to nobody.

A kind of giddiness arose from the ...

Re: Ready to see - where do I start?

What arises when I read that “I” is just a label put to thoughts and experiences?

I can see very clearly that “I” is a label for various thoughts and experiences, nothing more. Some thoughts out of the cloud of all thoughts have been grouped together under the label “I.” Some experiences out of the ...

Re: Ready to see - where do I start?

See Eye,

If I just sit what arises? Bodily sensations, butt on chair, air in nostrils, Where is I? there is body, hand, fingers on keys, fingers depressing keys, sensations in ears, noises outside room, phone ringing, air in air system, memories, jaw tightness, voices, belly fat on thighs, thought ...
