"Is there an experiencer experiencing, or is there only experience? Please look at this. Does experience belong to the body, or does the body belong to experience?"
It is a good question, and a good follow up to your earlier question “What experiences this?”
Nothing can claim ownership of ...

Re: Going in circles
1) Is there a 'me', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever? How about self, is there anything that is separate from everything else?
There is no me, no self. There is no perceiver or experiencer. There is only perception alone. What is real now must always be real. Therefore ...

Re: Going in circles
I only find perception. Perception of sense objects. Perception of thoughts, sensations, etc. but no perceiver, no experiencer.

Re: Going in circles
Initially I wanted to say I don’t know, because there seemed to be no answer. But it appears that no experiencer is needed. Everything is happening spontaneously. The experiencer is an afterthought, out of sync with what is occurring. This is why when I am focused outward as reality is happening I ...

Re: Going in circles
Right, just a habit of the mind, imagination. It is not constant so cannot be real. It is not there when the focus is outward or if the mind is not active so it must be a mental construction. If it were real it could not be seen through. It would be seen as something that could be pointed out. It is ...

Re: Going in circles
OK, I worked on this all day and I’m definitely getting a feel for what you’re saying. Anything that comes up just look behind it and find nothing there. As I was at work walking around, focused outward and looking around I couldn’t help noticing the vividness and the continuous flowing movement of ...

Re: Going in circles
No, just a body with physical attributes; a complex configuration of molecules. All the emotions, thoughts, moods, and sensations are automatic reactions derived from physical sources.

Re: Going in circles
I sense that you are right. There is nothing there but an idea. The harder I look for it the more tension I feel until my stomach tightens. It doesn't want to be seen. There is still fear but I need to see through this.

Re: Going in circles
So what does not disappear when no thought is applied to it?
OK, I think I get what you're saying. Physical reality requires no thought. It only requires perception. All those Advaita teachers try to get you to see everything as an illusion. Now you're telling me the only illusion is me. No need ...

Re: Going in circles
What is that which has always been with you? Is any of this idea real at all? Or just memories that produce sensations, feelings in the body-via the brain and nerves?
I suppose there is nothing that has always been with me. It is purely physical. A false impression. Is that correct?

Re: Going in circles
You said 'sense' about this. Is it personal?
It is very personal, but not tangible. That is why I can only call it a ‘sense’. When I look at it, there is nothing substantial to attribute it to. It’s just there. Like a center that ties everything together. But the sense is personal in that it ...

Re: Going in circles
There is a definite sense of an entity present. The sense is that it resides behind my eyes, looking out. Sometimes it feels like a stranger, but most times I seem to identify with it and consider it to be myself. When I think about it, it only appears to be composed of memories thoughts and ...

Re: Going in circles
Thanks, Jeff. I would say my primary expectation is to see the truth as it is in reality, whatever that may be, without delusion. My feeling is that this would somehow lead to peace of mind, loss of fear, ability to relate to others without selfishness and anger. But I may just be deluding myself ...

Going in circles
My search for peace has been going on for at least 20 years. In an attempt to rid myself of depression, anxiety, and difficulties relating to other people including my family, I spent many years reading philosophy and psychology and taking anti-depressants. Always I have had a strong feeling of not ...
