Re: Time to die.

1) Is there a 'me', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever?
This sounds funny now, as in chuckling funny. The answer is, No. No me. I can't say it's gone, because it never was there to begin with; however, the belief/assumption that there is a "me" is gone, and so the feeling of ...

Re: Time to die.

OK, so here's the deal, Rohit:
THERE
IS
NO
I/ME!

Any sense whatsoever, whenever, whatever that there is a lack, gap, absence, presence, or anything at all that should not be or cannot be found, it's all because of an "I." No "I," no problem. Game over, problems solved all of them. Not so say that ...

Re: Time to die.

The steering wheel was used as the keyboard in your exercise. I didn't have a keyboard as an anchor to reality, so I just used the steering wheel as the anchor to reality in that instance. That's all, really. Then, comparing the component parts of the experience to the anchor, it became clear that ...

Re: Time to die.

Here's what the exercise has revealed: it is impossible for anything in life to be personal. Though the feeling that something is happening to a "me," comparing that idea of "me" to something that is known to be real -- the anchor -- immediately shows the me-idea to be a fake. Example: while driving ...

Re: Time to die.

Alright, I'll give the exercise a try. At least it'll be something I've never done before.

Thanks.

Re: Time to die.

You're right. No more bullshit. I lied to myself about my expectations of liberation. The truth is that I expect a marvelous awakening accompanied by celestial vision whereby I can commune with other planes and "higher" beings; I expected some kind of super-human, super-normal perception that would ...

Re: Time to die.

Rohit, I'm sorry. I thought I saw clearly. However, I neither see nor see through nothing. The I/me continues to ride my back, and I continue to give him a free ride, going wherever he wants to go. I am rid of nothing for all these inquiries, especially a personalized me identity. I'll try again at ...

Re: Time to die.

Last night, I was reading GG again, this time the story about Charles. I finished the story, put the book up, and started snacking on some Doritos thinking about the story. Then, suddenly, everything just clicked. It all fell into place and made perfect sense. This morning, there was still a little ...

Re: Time to die.

Not a dog-gone thing, as it turns out. The looker doesn't exist. There is a shell through which life lives, complete with mind, body, personality, ego, preferences and aversions, ideals, beliefs, etc. This "throughput device" is only that, and it has no substance, functioning or purpose other than ...

Re: Time to die.

It works. Every time there is the feeling of being caught up in the movement, at that point it can be recognized that that feeling -- pleasant or unpleasant doesn't matter -- and even the sensation of there being a self that is part of the action, is all just another thought...or an idea with no ...

Re: Time to die.

That's an entirely new way of putting it. Either that, or this version got through. Thanks, I'm going to re-read this about a hundred times. Struck a chord here. Damn, it's true and you're right...give me a day with this. I'm grateful for your persistence.

Re: Time to die.

The body is breathing...and digesting, and replacing cells, and regulating temperature/blood pressure, and all that...by itself. It's autonomic. There is no doer -- at least not a localized doer -- doing anything. All functions happen by design, and the designer certainly ain't me.

What is thinking ...

Re: Time to die.

In Gateless Gatecrashers, I was relieved to read that we don't deny anything. We don't deny thoughts...they are there, that's it. We don't deny situations...they are there, that's it. We don't deny things, material or otherwise...they are there, that's it. Everything that is, is. Nothing requires ...

Re: Time to die.

Caught me...and made me laugh. OK, you're right, I can't say I'm not free yet. Taking the "I" out, that would be, "can't say not free yet," and that sounds ridiculous by any measure. I know it's just verbiage and semantics, but it teaches the point. Take the "I" out of a sentence. Nice exercise.

Go ...

Re: Time to die.

Nothing has any substance! All pursuits have no lasting, inherent value, they're just part of the play of life. Not plays, just play, because there's only one play going on. Insofar as the play is concerned, everything that happens is essential, but that's where it ends. There is no beyond the play ...
