how is this different from believing oneself = an I, or a separate self?

and, of course, the point is not in avoiding or replacing words - and it's very good you describe honestly what is.

yes, there can be nothing separate from what's happening.

and part of the grip the illusion of "I" has on us is the fact we can't see clearly when and how it arises.

but it's not that hard to see :)
