Re: it is what it is but what is it
Conventionally speaking you take responsibilty for your son and etc just like you grab the thing falling of the table spontaneously, right? If that disapeared it would probably be a sign of the clarity of insight deteriorating into an extreme nihilistic belief. But is there actually a need for or ...

Re: it is what it is but what is it
1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever?
no, there's a tag on some thoughts that's intended to mark things as 'I' but it's not a real thing in experience.
2) Explain in detail what the illusion of separate self is, when it ...

Re: it is what it is but what is it
I do think that's already happened for me, yeah.

Re: it is what it is but what is it
I don't think there's further shifts of perception coming from this avenue (which is to say my current perceptions are quite different to how they were a few years ago). as an example, it used to feel like "I" was in my skull, driving my body like a robot, trapped in a small dark space defined by ...

Re: it is what it is but what is it
That can open you to seeing there's no separate self.
I don't think I think there's a separate self, fwiw.
How is the movement controlled?
it's just kind of happening.
Does a thought control it?
no
Can a ‘controller’ of any description be located?

Re: it is what it is but what is it
no, there's no clear division between butt and chair, there's just sensations in space. Is there any clear dividing line between them? Or only the Sensation with no clear division?

Re: it is what it is but what is it
my chest, stomach, neck and shoulders all contract slightly around my throat. What is found?
yes. It's the same (ish) feeling as writing down "I am sitting" earlier or saying "I'm a little teapot" now.Do you see that?

Re: it is what it is but what is it
it's clear to me
The problem with the linguistic mode is that it's got a subject and object built in. it's very difficult to engage with it without getting stuck in the tarpit.
currently language is mostly triggering idea chains for a talk I'm giving in a few weeks, which is very grabby for me ...

Re: it is what it is but what is it
thanks again for your time on this, Stacy. much appreciated.
it's clear to me that 'thing-ness' is a layer that can turn on and off, and can be wildly wrong, and I've observed the label on a thing change in realtime often :)
below are my answers:

Re: it is what it is but what is it
Yes, I feel a contraction attached to lying, in my shoulders/chest/up into my neck and throat. there's a fast grab through my core as well but it's less clear to me than the upper stuff.Do you see that?

Re: it is what it is but what is it
they don't change the experience, though they make it less fluid and more about thought than the other senses.

Re: it is what it is but what is it
For each 10 minute period pay attention to any bodily sensation i.e. is there any tightening, or any relaxing?
I did this for a shorter time, because the first part was very contracted and unpleasant and actually it's happening now as I type lol.

Post several of your own observations in a list *exactly* like the one above, please.

smelling a cashew = smell
feeling it in my hand = feeling/sensation
tasting it = taste
hearing it crunch = sound
thoughts about cashews = just thoughts

I'm clear about it.Please let me know if you are clear about this or if you would like any further clarification.
With the socks, it's mildly funny because I only have black socks, but I understand the difference between knowing this for reasons and observing it directly.

Re: it is what it is but what is it
Please Quote one question at a time with one answer underneath. I read von my phone. Later we'll be asking other volunteer guides to read your answers, and this makes it easier on them.
