Re: Who am I?

That clears things up.

Thank you for that and for all the previous guidance!
I will be posting here if future questions arise.

Re: Who am I?

Thanks, the video did indeed clarify a few things.

I'm also a bit confused: How does the linked video relate to the work we have been doing here? The way I understand it, what we are discussing here, including the last exploration you gave me, is on fetters 1-3.

It seems to me that Angelo, in ...

Re: Who am I?

Investigate also what that "subconscious assumption" is? What does it consist of? It's like a mental habit - the self was always found in a particular place. A certain image arises and then I would habitually connect the sense of self to it.

Here's another example from today:

After waking up ...

Re: Who am I?

With both examples I gave, it seems like the "self" is purely symbolic - an image or a symbol or a body sensation. I experience those, but there is no "thinker" or "doer" or self on top of that. The images seem to point to such a self, but that's only a subconscious assumption. The assumption falls ...

Re: Who am I?

Thank you, this is very useful. I also have found it quite peculiar how the normal workings of the self would still be fully visible and present while at the same time they became transparent and seen through.

I would be interested to pursue this inquiry a bit further before closing the ...

Re: Who am I?

1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever?

ANSWER: My present experience is that things just happen, including perceptions, thoughts, decisions. There is no one "inside" who is apart from that. And there is no one who causes things ...

Re: Who am I?

PS - my apologies for the late response. I am traveling and periodically without internet for several weeks but I should be able to continue this conversation.

Re: Who am I?

1) You are not responsible for anything.
Feels pleasant, clear, open. Things seem to happen on their own. Therefore, Not sure how responsibility in the usual sense of the word makes sense given that.
I also notice confusion around the "who". Who is the one that could even be responsible for what ...

Re: Who am I?

Thanks for those pointers.

For the purposes of this investigation it would be important you let go of second hand beliefs/convictions and stay with exploring direct experience.

Are you willing to do that as long as we work together?

Assuming yes, look again, can consciousness in any way be found ...

Re: Who am I?

Can you find consciousness as something separate from experience?

Not sure. I can perceive "consciousness", and I've heard it has the ability to reflect itself without thought - but there has been no realization of that yet.

"Sometimes I imagine it as a singular point with no specific location ...

Re: Who am I?

Thank you for the prompting. What I received from you, and from the video, were the following questions:

Which of my doubts are just thoughts?
What is the actual perception in the moment?
Which expectations do thoughts create?

I am vaguely aware of the fetters model, however I have not ...

Re: Who am I?

Hi Elad,

you can call me Lucas.

Here's a summary of my previous glimpses.

Experience 1: Unlocking my own mind, but still a self

In late 2022, at my first Ayahuasca retreat, in my visions I was surfing through my own mind - represented as symbols and information highways. It was fairly ...

Who am I?

LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this?
I can see that there is nobody at the core of this person who makes decisions. It seems to me that I'm actually some presence that is experiencing all of this. The sense of self seems to consist of ...
