Re: What is this?

Hi Rali,

Thanks for the nudge. Part of me didn't want to finish this :)

5) Describe decision & give examples from experience.

-Decisions seem to be made but no one makes them. Also you can say that no decision is made as by the time the mind gets a hold of something, it’s in the past and the ...

Re: What is this?

Hi Rali,

It's been lovely working with you on these questions. Got a little busy over the past few days but here is what I have for the first four questions; I'll take a bit more time for the last two.

1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form ...

Re: What is this?

Hi Rali,

When you talk about a character, does “he” somehow exist? Can he do anything (even “try”) or is it just a story about a character, an illusion?

-No, it doesn’t exist as a separate real thing but it seems to be a useful for communication / story telling.

Can a thought do anything – see ...

Re: What is this?

Hi Rali,

How is life these days? Is there still seeking?

Hmmm, very good question regarding seeking. There is definitely much less seeking but I’m not sure if there is still some. There is obviously nothing to become if you’re it already. The character goes on trying but it will never succeed or ...

Re: What is this?

Sorry, missed those:
Are there others? Is there an “I” in others?
-No there are no others or an I in others. There is also no other perspective in DE and so there is no perspective here or anywhere at all.

Is there a “you”?
-There doesn’t seem to be a relationship either way, no I, you or us.

Re: What is this?

Hi Rali,

I did a walk in nature but also did a half marathon with a large group of people this morning. A very interesting feeling of being a wave in a flowing river with no agency :D

Is there anything that is separate from everything else?

- No, there are no borders.

Is there a border that ...

Re: What is this?

Hi Rali,

The questions are getting more and more interesting :)

Does it really have a “middle” without focusing on “objects”?

-I suppose “middle” is also just a concept.

What is “focus”?

-Experiencing a partitioned section of the experience more prominently. Of Course, parts don’t exist ...

Re: What is this?

Hi Rali,

Thanks for these questions. The second part took a little more investigation this time.

Yes! But what is a “visual field” in DE? Is there a “field” that is not seen? Is the fied “3D”? What is space/distance in DE? What is it made of?

- There is no field separate from seeing in DE… it’s ...

Re: What is this?

Hi Rali,

Are the senses and thinking personal? What identifies with them?

-No, they are not personal. The appearance only appears to itself with no gap. There is no identity or identifying with senses outside of thoughts.

Focus on the feeling of am-ness/being, aliveness.
Can you tell if there ...

Re: What is this?

Hi Rali,

Thank you for these questions.

A thought appears.
In that moment is there anyone or anything which recognises the thought or is being aware of it?

-No, there is nothing other than thoughts.

Can you see anything that is separate from the thought and does the thinking?

-No, nothing ...

Re: What is this?

Hi Rali,

That was a very interesting practice. Thank you :)

Break down daily activities into these categories (which are all Actual/Direct Experience) and report back with lists EXACTLY like the one above. Please write a few examples from your daily life.

Re: What is this?

Hi Rali,

If I ask you what colour socks you are wearing right now you have two ways to answer:
1. You can think about it, trying to remember, or guessing what colour they are.
2. You can have a look at your socks and see what colour they ACTUALLY are!
You will agree that only by looking you could ...

Re: What is this?

Hi Rali,

Thanks for your feedback. Here is what I have for the follow-up questions:

If you look for the I, what is there?

There is a mental image of a body from a third-person point of view. There is also a body sensation in the face.

If I say there’s no doer, thinker, experiencer, decision ...

Re: What is this?

Hi Rali,

My responses are a bit short but I kept them honest and I hope my response doesn't come across as flippant. Let me know if you'd like to see longer responses.

1. What will be different when you realize there’s no separate self?

In one sense, nothing in particular, as there has always ...
