Re: Looking for a guide
Is there attention in direct experience?
Yes it seems like attention is the change in focus that appears in direct experience.
What is attention ? Look and describe it for me.

Re: Looking for a guide
Surprisingly I spontaneously started doing that a little bit after your amazing hand experiment. I will continue to see if there is an entity doing physical actions.LOOK at your daily activities and SEE if there is an entity, a you doing them.

Re: Looking for a guide
I posted a reply a few days ago but it didn't seem to post. I will post again:
What is meant by "a sense of attention"? Is it a sensation : if it so where is it located? Does a sensation control the movement?
Is it only a thought? LOOK
the sense of attention is just what attention is doing ...

Re: Looking for a guide
How is the movement controlled?
I have no idea. There's reading of the instructions and then there's a sense of agreeing to do it and then it happens.
Does a thought control it?
After reading this question I did it again. It doesn't seem that thought controls it but there does seem to be a ...

Re: Looking for a guide
Again as I type this I can ask myself who is the "I" that is expecting the pattern to stop?
Good observation. Look and give the answer to your question.
And by the way, is there you, a separate self who's going to look?
There is no "I" or separate self that is going to look, if there is looking ...

Re: Looking for a guide
There is awareness of everything that arises. Is "Just be knowingly" an action?
No. It is just being and aware of being aware.
If it's not an action or movement then is it possible to not be aware of being aware?
Do you see that “If there is no "I" there must be something fueling this inquiry ...

Re: Looking for a guide
There is just awareness of experiences and some of those include thoughts that imply an "I".
Wonderful, how do you feel to see this?
It invites more curiosity to stay with direct experience. Nothing is outside of direct experience including thoughts but somehow it seems so.

Re: Looking for a guide
Yes, being aware is not an experience.
Can it be known directly? It can't be known as an experience by the mind but it seems evident from all experience that awareness exists.
When I look to see if I am aware, attention moves to one of the senses and thoughts say "the fact that the sensation is ...

Re: Looking for a guide
I have not. When I see the shape/color/texture that thought labels laptop in the visual field the label "laptop" appears.
Yes, it is like a program : when a color/shape is seen, a corresponding label appears. It does not mean that a thought (label) is linked to the object. I want you to see that ...

Re: Looking for a guide
In addition to this guiding I have been doing self inquiry and recently increased it to 2 hours at a time. I have experienced a spinning sensations in my head a few times. They last less than a minute and the strongest one was associated with the visual field spinning as well. Is this common?

Re: Looking for a guide
The thoughts are completely blind to all sensory experience and have no connection to them at all?
Yes, in direct experience you cannot find a link between a thought, a label and the sensory experience. Have you seen this?

Re: Looking for a guide
Ok so what I'm understanding is that thoughts have no connect to what is appearing in the senses except that they also occur here and now.
