Seeking the end of seeking

Postby Edward60 » Sun Feb 01, 2026 5:28 am

LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this?
Seeing that there is no real inherent self involves looking at what is real and what is illusion. A cup exists without the word cup, but no "I" exists with the word "I" being used, when looked for there is no equivalent experience of "I" present without a thought, concept or idea.

What are you looking for at LU?
I would be grateful for guidance on determining and stabilizing the insight of no-self. I seem to waffle between seeing and knowing that there is no "me," allowing life to live itself and to experience the relief that insight provides; and at other times forget this realization and fall back into the illusion of "me," unable to shake off this belief "I" have carried for a life time.

What do you expect from a guided conversation?
To participate is the LU protocol as it applies to my unique and honest answers about what I see and experience as it pertains to the insight of no-self. I think "I" could use some help, the DIY route seems to be faltering a bit.

What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry?
I have been on the path for 40 years, always searching for the elusive peace of mind I hoped spiritual practices and experiences would provide. So far I have accumulated a lot of information, and many peak experiences, but real change has eluded me. My background includes the western mystery tradition, Zen, Advaita, Gurdjieff, and a smattering of others paths and practices. I have read many books, so far it has all been theory, some practice, with little to no result.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self? 10
