Re: Never too late!

It's the same principle. Was there a "you" making that choice, and if so where? What were the steps "you" took to pick one over the other? write them all down and then take each in particular and ask yourself if "you" did that or whether it just happened?

Re: Never too late!

Good. What about major choices that happened in your life, like education, career, family? Did they just happen as well?
What I'm asking is whether you're absolutely clear that "you" have no say in the matter. Any matter!

Re: what I am looking not to find

I'm someone who loves tennis and bowling. I am a husband and father who tries really hard to do the right thing as a parent, but I don't really know what I'm doing; I don't think anyone really knows what they're doing, but most people won't admit that. I am someone who tries but fails consistently ...

Re: what I am looking not to find

One big thing I'm struggling with is simply not clearly knowing, when we say there is no self (I, ego, subject, whatever), exactly what we're saying does not exist. Its good you brought that up. You do need to clear things out, including what the self is. So what is the "self" to you? What do you i...

Re: what I am looking not to find

Hi there, First of all, welcome to LU, and let's see if we can help. When you add on everything I've learned about how the selfless nature of consciousness is right there on the surface, so simple to see that its very obviousness makes it easy to overlook, I often now find myself deeply despairing o...

Re: Never too late!

Not completely noise, no. Some do say important stuff but it might be best for starters to see them as just noise for them to lose their grip on you. Thoughts just happen. Who cares what they say. Can you do the exercise on control again, the "take two things" one, this time leaving thoughts aside? ...

Re: Never too late!

Sorry this looooong answering, there has been many difficulties to get connection, first problems with my phone and then with password. No worries. Enjoy your trip. Also have been thinking about that exercise you gave me. f.e. two cups, in the other koffee and in the other tee and in that choiche p...

Re: Never too late!

I' have decided how something should go, how something is best to do etc..then 'I' starts to fulfill the thing. I have noticed that at that moment my mind tolds me what to do, how to react. It is an old/ancient habit and I have obeyed. Even though have felt something isn't right, I haven't listen t...

Re: Choose a title

Beautiful! I have to say, reading your answers sort of put me into a trance, like reading a guided meditation :D Ok, I have no more question/pointers to give. Will check with the others, see if they see something we missed talking about. If so, I will get back to you. What will happen next is that a...

Re: Never too late!

but if i force something against naturally flow
Good. Let's look into the control thingie. How do you control stuff? Like what are the exact steps?

That is a mystery for me where the thoughts come from.
Does not knowing bother you?
(This is tied to control as well)

Re: Choose a title

Im glad to hear that. I have 6 more questions. They encompass pretty much all we talked about so some things might repeat themselves but if theres anything we missed they will most likely pop up now. Take as much time as you like. 1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in ...

Re: Choose a title

Is there anything I'm missing?
Your "self", maybe?
I just wanted to know whether you have any doubts at all about seeing through the illusion of the self or if you feel there is anything we didn't talk about.

Re: Never too late!

I can see now that its imbossible for 'me' to control the stream of thoughts. They just are there.
ALL thoughts? Or is there still doubt whether there are some you can control?

And is there "someone" who wants certain thoughts to happen or is that just another thought?

Hi there.
There are some questions I asked left unanswered.
It would be great if you were to tend to them.
