Re: Anything more than intellectual understanding of this?

Write how it is going with feelings and thoughts throughout you day experiences.
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking me to do here. I worked all day today, and nothing unusual happened.

Re: Anything more than intellectual understanding of this?

What is mind for you? Something real or concept for the thoughts?
From the standpoint of experience, the mind is just thoughts. It would certainly seem that something must be producing the thoughts, but that's not really part of experience.

Re: Anything more than intellectual understanding of this?

has your life changed in any way since you have seen that there is no you, as thinker or controller? Possibly. I was talking previously about feeling dissatisfied with life, and the thoughts that go along with this. Today when I was having the feelings of being unhappy or dissatisfied, I didn't hav...

Re: Anything more than intellectual understanding of this?

Now, is there a seeing that there is no you in reality of direct experience? There is a seeing that there is no me, but it feels like there is a me at the center of everything which is surrounded by everything else which is not me. And, it feels like I can control my thoughts and actions, although ...

Re: Anything more than intellectual understanding of this?

Is it more accurate to say a computer or „my“ computer? Body or „my“ body? Fingers do the typing or „you“? The experience is of hearing a computer fan, not "my" computer fan, and of hands typing, not me typing. There are various physical sensations which, unless I'm thinking about them, I'm not ass...

Re: Anything more than intellectual understanding of this?

So, can you look and describe here your direct experience as it is going on, here and now? There is the sound of my computer fan, various feelings of my body as some parts are pressing against things, seeing the computer monitor, hearing the sound of the keyboard, some thoughts relating to these wo...

Re: Anything more than intellectual understanding of this?

Ok, Eloratea, so.... now what?

I still feel the same way I did when I started this thread, which is that I see intellectually that there is no self, but that I don't experience this. And I'm not sure if there is anything more possible than this. What do you think?

Re: Anything more than intellectual understanding of this?

Yes, there is this experience with thoughts and feelings and there is also belief in thoughts which tell that this experience is not ok. What if there would be no belief in them? If you would just welcome those thoughts and see them pass by as clouds on the sky of experience? If there were no belie...

Re: Anything more than intellectual understanding of this?

Can you describe this feeling of "mine"? There's a feeling of dissatisfaction and thoughts which go along with it which relate to "me", and the thoughts feel true. Like, "I want this experience to be different", that feels true, even though there is no "I". And taking out the "I" still leaves "want...

Re: Anything more than intellectual understanding of this?

Is this feeling yours or it is just a feeling? Passing as a cloud on the sky? It's not mine, but it feels like there's a me and that the feeling is mine. I asked can you really sit whit that, look more deeply where this dissatisfaction comes from? Dive deeply in it. See if it’s real? What is its so...

Re: Anything more than intellectual understanding of this?

Now, if there is no you, just one life, one experience here and now, for whom it can be unsatisfying? If there is no gap between you and life, if there is no two, just one. If god and love aren’t just concepts but something real, how do you expect it to manifest? I don't know that there has to be a...

Re: Anything more than intellectual understanding of this?

Do you see that there is no you in any shape or form? Isn't that liberating? I see it, but it isn't liberating. When I was 16 (almost 30 years ago), I had a realization, that "nothing matters". Another way of putting this is that everything is ok as it is. Any idea that things should be different o...

Re: Anything more than intellectual understanding of this?

I've been looking at this, and I think you're right about this. It seems that it's better to say that there is no me, rather than to say that this experience is me. It feels different, and it somehow feels more clear to say that there is no me. Saying "I am this experience" does seem to perpetuate t...

Re: Anything more than intellectual understanding of this?

I'm not sure that I understand what you're saying. Yes, "I" and "me" and such are just thoughts, rather than direct experience. But "there is no me" is also a thought. I'm trying to figure out if you and I are actually disagreeing about something, or just defining the word "me" differently. The usua...

Re: Anything more than intellectual understanding of this?

Hi Eloratea. There's a feeling that there is a me which is at the center of everything and which can do things. It seems to be more a feeling than a thought, although of course there are me thoughts as well. If I look, I can't find anything there, though, nothing doing things, nothing there at all. ...
