Re: In here Sam...

Hi Vince, My original belief (from whatever I read earlier) was that awakening is not an intellectual process and questioning/self-inquiry will help but only when we are opened enough already through spiritual practices. Thats what the system where I come from teaches too and it appears very correct...

Re: In here Sam...

Hi Vince,

I think I'll have to pause this for now and continue later once I open up a bit through my meditation. The discussion has certainly helped but it looks like I am not ready for this yet.

Thanks very much for your time. I really appreciate all the insights.

Re: In here Sam...

yeah there were 2's too but 1 I am not sure. I dont know if I was able to witness a thought while it is happening. It was mostly post-analysis like 2 or 3

Re: In here Sam...

I have observed the same two or three categories that you mentioned.

Mostly it fell into class 3 where I wasnt able to root-cause the origin thought. Most thoughts were concerns or worries about pressures at work or other things that I used to think about

Re: In here Sam...

Whether I think thoughts are important or not doesnt seem to have an effect on me getting caught in them. I've read Adyashanti say "None of the thoughts in your head are true". I was surprised by it and probably it did have some effect for sometime till I remembered that. Afterwards things were back...

Re: In here Sam...

Sam, is there something stopping you from experiencing this moment ? Why do thoughts always interfere ? Getting caught in thoughts about past or future or about what shouldnt or should happen is preventing me from experiencing this moment fully I dont know why thoughts interfere. Or why I get caugh...

Re: In here Sam...

The knowing that next moment is predictable. Though it is not. I know I'll eat now then goto sleep and then wake up and goto office tomorrow.

So I not only experience this moment but also know what the future most probably would be like

Re: In here Sam...

No Luck yet. I understand intellectually that this is all that is. The next moment is totally unpredictable.

But not experientially

Re: In here Sam...

I am in my bedroom. I can see the bed walls and other things. But if I go out to the hall I am sure I can find my sofa set and TV.

Re: In here Sam...

That is not a reality to me yet. Intellectually makes sense. But if it is true that everything outside of direct experience is a story. Then whatever I perceive seems to be unreal. As it doesnt exist when I dont think about it. This includes external world, my body, my thoughts, my feelings/emotions.

Re: In here Sam...

Think about the situation where you glimpse a snake and react to it with adrenaline only to discover that it is actually a coil of rope. Where did the experience of it take place? Was there a separate experiencer ? The imaginary snake is just in my mind. A mis-perception of reality. The reaction an...

Re: In here Sam...

This is true. Do you Know this is so ? When I specifically think about it, it feels correct. It is definitely a belief at this point and not an experience. But still I feel understanding this has a significant affect for me. When I notice a lot of things are happening by themselves without needing ...

Re: In here Sam...

oh I am just quoting that sage. It is not my experience though it feels logical. As for me, I really cannot find me anywhere. The conditioning, body mind combination runs things whether I call it a me or not. I do still sense the separate self though as a thought/feeling. As for the relationship bet...

Re: In here Sam...

Actually I read one of the Indian sages say this. I experience the entire world inside myself. I hear someone inside me, I see someone inside me. Even when someone touches me, I ONLY know the sensation of touch on my skin. I do not know if there is a somebody outside of me. So the other people with ...
